Lore & Background

Nora Carpenter is introduced as a widowed mother traveling with her fifteen-year-old son Tim. She is one of eight people prevented from entering U.S. Route 23 by Kimberly Corman's premonition of a deadly pile-up caused by a logging truck. After the survivors gather at state trooper Thomas Burke's apartment for safety, Nora leaves the apartment against Burke's advice. Her departure triggers a chain reaction that causes the doors of an elevator to decapitate her. Her death occurs after Evan Lewis is killed by a fire escape ladder and before Eugene Dix attempts suicide with Burke's gun, which repeatedly misfires. Clear Rivers later rationalizes that the misfire occurred because it was not Eugene's turn to die, confirming that Death was working backwards through the list of survivors.

In Their Own Story

Nora Carpenter is a widowed mother traveling with her fifteen-year-old son Tim to Daytona Beach, Florida, for spring break. She is one of eight people prevented from entering U.S. Route 23 by Kimberly Corman's premonition of a deadly pile-up caused by a logging truck. After the pile-up occurs, killing Kimberly's friends Shaina, Dano, and Frankie, the survivors return to their respective homes. Kimberly later sees omens of Tim's death but fails to save him from being crushed by a glass pane. After Tim's death, Nora joins the other survivors at Thomas Burke's apartment for safety. When Nora leaves the apartment, a chain reaction causes the doors of an elevator to decapitate her. Her death occurs before Eugene Dix attempts suicide with Burke's gun, which repeatedly misfires. Clear Rivers later explains that the misfire occurred because it was not Eugene's turn to die, confirming that Death was working backwards through the list of survivors.
