Wendy lives in McKinley, Pennsylvania, with her younger sister Julie. She is shown to be a control freak, dating Jason Wise, and friends with Kevin Fischer and Carrie Dreyer. She is the school photographer for the yearbook. Before boarding the roller coaster Devil's Flight, she has a feeling of "having no control" and suffers a premonition of the ride derailing and killing all passengers. She panics and gets several students off, but fails to save her boyfriend Jason and best friend Carrie. After the incident, she becomes determined to leave McKinley due to bad memories. She notices her photographs contain ominous clues about how the other survivors will die, learns details about the Flight 180 disaster from Kevin, and pairs with him to save the others. She ends up only rescuing Ian McKinley, her sister Julie, and Kevin from their second intended deaths. Ian later confronts her, blaming her for Erin Ulmer's death, but is killed by a collapsing aerial work platform, inadvertently taking Wendy's place on Death's List. Five months later, Wendy sees signs relating to the roller coaster and Flight 180 disasters, reunites with Julie and Kevin, and receives another premonition foretelling their deaths in a subway crash. Her attempts to stop the subway are for naught, as the film cuts to black with sounds of the train derailment, leaving her fate ambiguous.

Wendy and her friends celebrate at an amusement park for their senior field trip. At the start of the film, she admits she doesn't care for Kevin, but as the movie goes on, she slowly forms a caring relationship with him. After her premonition of the Devil's Flight derailment, she witnesses the deaths of Jason and Carrie. She becomes convinced of a haunting presence stalking her after initially being skeptical of Kevin's findings. She conducts her own research into premonitions, discovering another disaster, the U.S. Route 23 pile-up, strongly implied to be connected to the Flight 180 explosion. She senses it is the same unseen entity that caused past disasters. After Ian's death, Wendy, Kevin, and Julie believe they have escaped Death, but five months later, she receives a premonition of a subway crash. The film ends ambiguously as she runs toward the exit door, with sounds of the train derailment heard. In the "Choose Their Fate" DVD bonus feature, three alternate endings exist: one where her camera takes a last picture hinting at their next death; another where the subway barrels into her, explicitly showing her death; and a third where she receives her vision before boarding the roller coaster, saves herself, Kevin, Jason, and Carrie, and later becomes a fortune teller named Ming.
