Clear Rivers is introduced in *Final Destination* (2000) as one of the seniors from Mt. Abraham High School boarding Volée Airlines Flight 180 to Paris on May 13, 1999. On board, Alex Browning warns passengers about his vision of the airliner exploding; Clear is the only one who supports him. After witnessing Alex and classmates being removed from the plane, she willingly gets off before it explodes mid-air, killing the other 287 passengers and crew. Thirty-nine days later, at the memorial, she presents Alex a white rose as gratitude. After Tod dies in a freak accident, they visit mortician William Bludworth, who explains Death's design and warns they are still in danger. Following Terry's and Ms. Lewton's deaths, they save Carter's life, but Billy dies shortly after. Alex withdraws, believing himself next, but realizes Clear is actually next. He saves her from livewires at her house. Months later in Paris, Clear saves Alex from a speeding bus, but they witness Carter's demise by a falling sign. In the alternate ending, Alex and Clear have sex, resulting in her pregnancy; Alex dies saving her, and nine months later she gives birth to their son, Alexander Chance. In *Final Destination 2* (2003), set a year later, Clear is in Stonybrook Mental Institution, distraught over Alex's death. Kimberly Corman visits her for help with the Route 23 pile-up survivors. Clear initially tells Kimberly to save only herself, but after Tim dies, she changes her mind. She accompanies Kimberly and Officer Burke to Bludworth, who informs them of the equilibrium of Death and "new life" via survivor Isabella Hudson's unborn son. Despite efforts, Nora is decapitated by an elevator. En route to Isabella, a car accident leads to the deaths of Kat and Rory. At the hospital, Clear, Kimberly, and Burke ensure Isabella's infant survives. Kimberly has a premonition revealing Isabella was never meant to die, meaning they are still in danger. Clear finds Eugene's room, which is oxygenated; she opens the door, loosening the plug of Eugene's defibrillator, creating a spark that incinerates the room, killing them both. In her alternate death scene, Clear smiles in contentment as flames engulf her body. Clear's death is shown in X-ray format during the opening credits of *The Final Destination* and briefly in the death montage of *Final Destination 5*.
